My Fantabulous Taiwan Trip 26/07/2013 Day 1

After finishing my studies in Sheffield Hallam University in 2010, it's been 3 years that I've never step out from this country. Finally, I've got my chance to go travelling again and thanks a lot to my hometown friend as well as Tony who had given me this chance to fly with them!

Now let me share with you all about my trip which also act as my memory for the trip.

Day 1

Arriving in Taiwan Tao Yuan International Airport (台湾桃园国际机场)
Welcome to Taiwan!!!

As usual, we are lack of 1 of the member, the Big UBI!!!

After arriving at the airport, we went to buy the Sim Card in Taiwan immediately in order to enable communication among us as well as our family.

FarEastTone offer us about NTD500 for 8 days unlimited web surfing as well as credit of NTD 350. I would suggest the other tourist to go and survery among 3 companies before you all pick up any service.

Other than just getting the telco service, it's important to get yourself a youth travel card which is free from the Taiwan Tourism department. The only thing that U need to fullfill is that U need to be below 30 years old to enjoy the perks of it! Its quite important as this card will give U lots of discount for the entrance ticket of the Govt own attraction such as the Farm in Ching Jing (清境农场)

After getting all the thing that we need, we are now leaving the airport by taking the shuttle bus from the international airport to Feng Jia night market (逢甲夜市). The shuttle bus cost us about NTD240.

Along the journey from airport til the Chao Ma Station, we've noticed that the driver seat of the vehicle here is on the left hand side instead of right hand side and the vehicle is driving at the right hand side of the road. This is quite different from the traffic in Malaysia. On the other hand, we noticed that the building here is quite dull in colour and they are quite old I guess.

It takes about 2 hours from the airport til Chao Ma Station (朝马车站) which is the nearest station to the Feng Jia market. We've walk about 30 minutes from the station to our hotel which is J&I 逢甲美宿館.

This is my room and the atmosphere is fantastic! I hope that I can have the same thing in future!
The cost of the room on that night is NTD1500

This is the room for my best buddy which cost NTD1500 too!

After arriving at the hotel, We've decided to visit the night market immediately as we are all feeling hungry.
Even though the distant of the hotel from the Chao Ma station is quite far, but the distant of the hotel and the Feng Jia Night Market is just about 5 minutes which mean I've made the right choice and my research didn't fails me!

As U can see, this is the street at Feng Jia night market. There a quite a lot of people around and the traffic here really drive us crazy!

The 1st hunt of the day! Tako Tao! Actually me and my GF were attracted by the crowd as we thought that it must be a famous shop due to the long queue.

To be frank, the Tako Tao has a big piece of squid in it but I think the taste was a bit too light or maybe my taste bud is not as good as Taiwanese, all I can say is I can't taste the fragrance of the squid and the only best thing is that piece of Squid.
So this is the photo of the Tako Tao, this shop gives you option of Seaweed or the fish flake. As a result, we opt for the seaweed as we don't have such thing in Malaysia.

Believe it or not, we saw the notice board mentioning that they are hiring and the pay will be above NTD30000 which translate to about RM3100 Malaysia. Can U imagine? A hawker giving such pay??? It's even higher than most of the pay for the fresh grad in Malaysia!

After the Tako Tao, It's time for Taiwanese Roti Canai! We were conned due to the long queue as well. The Pancake is about the same as Roti Canai. 1 thing that I oberves from the shop is that the shell of the eggs in Taiwan are all white in colour!

Bake Corn and I got conned again. LoL.. But still, it's worth to give it a shot!

This is one of the famous thing in Feng Jia which I can't find in other night market such as Shi Lin. Its the Barbeque Prawn which is fresly catch and cook!

The taste of the prawn is quite nice and they havenumerous powder to spice up the prawn. This is a very nice food to try.

This Golden Chicken Wrap is quite special as well. The owner marinated the thigh meat of the chicken and wrap it with chicken skin. It's a bit weird for me as I don't really like the chicken skin, but the taste of the marinated meat is good and its worth trying too!

Thanks to Big Ubi, this ishe best thing that I found from this night market. Its the 奶油啤酒!The beer ain't bitter after adding the 奶油 and its a bit sweet in taste. To those who are coming to Feng Jia, I think I couldn't find this drink in Shi Lin as well. So its wise to try it at Feng Jia.

Last but not least, there are still a dessert call Ice Cream Banana coated with Choclate. The taste of the dessert is awesome too and it only appears in Feng Jia.

There goes my first nigh in Taiwan. Its tiring but the experience here is great.

A kind reminder to those who are going to visit here soon, it's wise to buy the thing that you want here as some of the items are only available here. On the other hand, U can do some survey around the mask shop here, the price are really cheap!
